LaSalle’s Howard Bouffard Development Plan

Welcome to The Canada South Land Trust’s page dedicated to providing our fellow conservation advocates information on the status and opportunities for the Howard Bouffard area.

To grieve lost children, honour survivors, their families and their communities, we share these videos from: The Canadian Human Rights Commission:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Pclwpj1m8M ; and this video for children from the CBC:  https://www.cbc.ca/kids/articles/what-is-orange-shirt-day

The Town of LaSalle currently proposes:

    • to develop 2,400 acres of land
    • change designated land uses from Natural Environment and Agricultural, to Residential and Commercial
    • pave over and around Provincially Significant woodlands and wetlands
    • increase the population by up to 42,000 people in this 2,400 acre area

The first image is of the 3 options provided by the Town of LaSalle.  The Google Earth Image that follows  shows the foodlands and natural heritage sites that exist here.
